There is a lot to do to ensure that the practice of child marriage ends the world over – from enacting laws at national levels, to supporting NGOs and community groups working at the grassroots, to drawing international attention to the harms that child marriage can cause.

Girls Not Brides is a growing movement and there will be opportunities to make your voice count. By signing up to receive our emails, we’ll keep you updated on the actions that you can take to support the ten million girls a year who are denied their most fundamental human rights.

Break the taboo! Let’s talk about child marriage

Child marriage is a taboo. It’s often seen as a family matter and therefore private, or a matter of culture and tradition in which politicians and aid agencies are reluctant to intervene.

To break the taboos that surround child marriage we need to start by talking about it. Share the information and resources you find on this site with your friends and family, or if you’re a teacher, why not raise this topic among your students? You can join the conversation online by liking us on Facebook, following us on Twitter and viewing our videos and photos on YouTube and Flickr.
